"Good Point!"
c.2010, William T. Beverly, Ph.D.
April (Easter Weekend) 1992 -- Richmond, Virginia.
Mikhail Gorbachev addresses a press conference at the University of Richmond's Jepson School of Leadership Studies.
Photographer's Note:
"I heard he (Gorbachev) was going to being in town for a few days, so I enlisted in the press pool and followed him around. He spoke at the Richmond Forum, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Richmond Omni Hotel, and the University of Richmond. One time in fact, he was to walk down a hallway in a U of R building and I positioned myself standing up on a bench in this narrow corridor. As he and his entourage spirited by he looked up at me like I could almost hear him thinking, "what a fool.... he must really want my picture."
"This was possibly a difficult time for the former President as he was frequently hit with very deep questions concerning the Soviet Union and the "New" Russia."
"Later, during a press conference, after expending a good 300 frames (actual film -- NOT digital), I finally got the photo I was looking for. Though it has been published, I think twice; it is still one of my favorites."
